This mod is one that my buddy Steve and I did to my own Mono/Poly. It's a switch that allows you to select internal or external CV/trigger with a single finger flick. I did this because I use a Kenton Pro-solo MIDI to CV converter to control my Mono/poly. The problem is, when anything is plugged into the CV inputs, the keyboard is deactivated! During live shows I need to switch between sequenced and keyed parts without unplugging from the jacks in back, and this mod allows that.

What you need: Wire, a double-pole double-throw switch, solder, and a soldering iron. Note that all wires you will be adding are green. All others are the actual color as found in the Mono/poly.

1
Unscrew the four top and 3 bottom bolts that hold the synths blue metal faceplate down. Gently flip it up to expose the electronics inside.

2
Find the CV and trigger inputs on the inside back of the synth.

3
De-solder wire 28-2 from P8 of the CV input.

4
De-solder wire 28-1 from P7 of the CV input.

5
De-solder wire 19-2 from P12 of the trigger input.

6
Solder wire 28-1 to either center pole of your switch.

7
Solder wire 28-2 to the right pole on the same side of the switch.

8
Solder a wire of your own from the same pole to P8 on the CV input.

9
Solder a wire from the left pole on same side of the switch to P7 of the CV input.

10
Solder wire 19-2 to the unused center pole on the opposite side of switch.

11
Solder a wire from ground to the right pole on the same side of the switch.

12
Solder a wire from left pole on the same side of the switch to P-12 of the trigger in.

13
Plug in a CV/trigger source and see if the switch works. When flipped one way, the keys should work and the external CV source will not, flip the switch the other way and you should get the opposite effect.

14
Unscrew the two bolts on left underside of the synth and the top wood screw to free the black plastic island housing the pitch and mod wheels.

15
Find a spot in the plastic to drill a hole such that the switch will sit between the wheels and the metal face. Make sure that it is in a place where it will not interefere with any wheel operation, or get in the way of wires underneath. Also be sure that the hole allows for clean operation so that no switch movement is impeded.

16
Tape a piece of paper under the drilling area so as not to allow shavings into the synth. Drill an appropriate sized hole for your switch, remove paper.

17
Put the switch through hole. Orient it so that the switch faces the keyboard when in key mode, and away from the keyboard when in CV mode. Tighten down the nut on the switch.

18
Replace the black plastic island to its proper position. Screw in th wood screw on top and both bolts on the left underside.

19
Lower the metal face of synth and screw the 3 bottom and 4 top bolts back in place. You're done!
